Why we love this wine
Grapes & TerroirMinimal intervention Alenquer DOC. Hand-picked Touriga Nacional red grapes, considered the King of Portugal wine grape varieties, grown in Atlantic coastal clay limestone soils. There are some fantastic Touriga wines now being produced from Australian regions such as McLaren Vale and the Barossa Valley. This wine is a great example of a premium Portuguese original Touriga.
WinemakingFermented in cement tanks, followed by malolactic fermentation and ageing for 12 months in second and third year French oak barrels.
TastingDrink from now to 3-5 years. Alcohol 14.5%. Full bodied, with a spicy and peppery aroma, fantastic for casual drinking and dining occasions as the flavour and pallet is generous yet nicely balanced.
Wine & Food PairingA most interesting full body quality red, enjoyed as a semi-aperitif, or with meat dishes and chocolate desserts. Very versatile…a testament to the fame of the Touriga grape variety.
