Why we love this wine

• Grapes & Terroir

  The grapes that sparked the Macdonald family's passion for wine were all Alsatian aromatics. This 300-case-only co-fermentation of their single vineyard Pinot Gris, Gewürztraminer, and Riesling was born as a tribute to the wines that started their journey. ‘The Sum Of Us’ by Bladen Marlborough Hand-crafted Wines, the first release with vintage 2022.
• Winemaking

  The fruit was handpicked and whole-cluster-pressed in cool morning conditions. After 12 hours of settling, the juice was racked, warmed and then a selected yeast strain was added to start fermentation. After fermentation was complete, the wine was aged on yeast lees for 2-3 months to build texture and complexity.
• Tasting

  Layers of peach, apple and rockmelon, velvety and persistent through a lengthy finish. An exciting and moreish glass of wine. Floral blossom and stone fruits with hints of lychee.

  A food-friendly style, an ideal companion to pork and chicken dishes, BBQ or enjoy with hard cheeses.
