Why we love this wine

  • Grapes & Terroir

The Barolo wine region in Piedmont, is arguably the most famous DOCG in Italy. One of the longest ripening varieties in the region, Barolo must be produced from 100% Nebbiolo and only from the strictly delimited hills surrounding 11 local towns. Trè-surì is a nod to the three different Mauro Sebaste Nebbiolo vineyards, each with excellent exposure to the sun, each one with its own characteristics, combining to seed this exquisite Barolo.
  • Winemaking

Barolo must be aged for a minimum of 38 months of which at least 18 months must be spent in oak. After malolactic fermentation Mauro ages his Barolo in a combination of 1600 litre French oak barrels and 400 litre oak barrels for 36 months and a minimum of 6 months in bottle before release.
  • Tasting

This is a fine and elegant wine with beautiful shades of cherry, rose and sweet liquorice, full bodied with soft and elegant tannins. As with all of Mauro's wines, this Tresuri Barolo is very approachable now due to its youthful balance, freshness and fruitiness. Recommended cellar age 2030+ will add smooth complexity without losing its youthful characteristics.
  • Makers Match

When visiting local friends two hours south of Piedmont in the seaside town of Imperia, on the Italian Rivera, this wine was memorably enjoyed with veal escalope and roast pork...would also be perfect with heavier red meats in cooler weather.
